Anerley Saved!

Friends of Anerley are delighted to announce that, on the 24th January, Bromley Council's Leisure and Services Committee agreed to drop their plan to close Anerley Town Hall. Anerley Library , the Children's Playcentre and Anerley Civic Halls will remain open for the foreseeable future.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the campaign. YOU made the difference. Feel proud of yourself!

Anerley Library

* Used by all the community.

* Room for study.

* Efficient, friendly staff.

* Serves a number of local schools.

* Valuable for children learning to read.

* Specific help offered for children's homework.

* Well-lit and safe for children.

* Offers access to two computer terminals with printing facilities.

* Both adults and children use regularly use the study places.

* Tea and coffee are available.

* A good place to bump into friends.

Children's Play centre

* Provides a valuable resource for parents.

* Encourages child development through socialization.

Anerley Civic Halls

* Exercise classes maintain the health of the community.

* As a regeneration area we need subsidised classes.

* There are very few public halls in this end of the borough.

* Provides badly needed accommodation for events in the area including entertainment, cultural events, local meetings, weddings and parties, and the Over 50's club.
